As you know, taking on HIV test is a scary thing. Until each of us faces that fear, we’re not ready to take the test.
I think it’s better not to take a test than to take it before we’re ready to handle a positive diagnosis. Obviously, you’re partner is not ready yet. I’d encourage you to be patient with him. I think you can help him to get ready by telling him about your experience with being HIV+(positive).
Although I am HIV-(negative) my partner is positive. By doing things like: going to the hospital with him; learning about his medications and treatment; and seeing the support services that are available, I have learned a lot about what being HIV positive is really like.
This intimate contact with HIV has made me much less scared. My situation is different from your partner’s because I know my status, but I think that by learning more about HIV through you your partner will eventually be ready to take that test for himself.
