I am a person who needs to act when there is a problem. When my partner is feeling sick I feel like I need to do something.
I try to give him some advice to try things that might make him feel better. I did this even before we found out that he has HIV, so I just do the same thing now. I know that he doesn’t like to feel like a “patient”, so in many ways I think that it’s important for me to interact with him in the same way that I did before we found out that he has HIV.
However, when he is not feeling well, or has some problem, I try to just be with him and listen to him if he wants to talk about the way that he is feeling both mentally and physically. I try to understand that it must be very frustrating for him and many times the only thing that I can do is to be with him.
