When I first found out that my partner was HIV+, it was a real shock.HIV had never come this close to me and I was scared.
I think that I also felt very helpless. My reaction was to try to get as much information about HIV and AIDS.This included a lot of information about the medical tests that doctors use to evaluate his condition. In this way, I felt that I could be helpful when we went to see the doctor together.I felt that if both of us were able to ask questions from the doctor, we could know more about the best way to deal with the situation.
Also, for me it was important to find out information about the latest research and medications for treating HIV. I also tried to find information about alternative treatments, such as vitamins and herbal remedies. For me, having as much information as I could helped me to feel like I could really help him. This also helped to know what things we might have to encounter in the future. So for me, having as much information helped me to feel less scared and it also gave me a feeling that I was able to better support my partner.

僕のパートナーがHIVだとわかった時、すごくショックを受けました。こんなに身近 （近くに）HIVという病気が現れたことに戸惑いや恐怖がありました。その時に自分 が何の手助けも出来ない事を感じました。自分自身で気がついた事としてはHIV・ エイズについて沢山の情報を集める事でした。その中には担当の先生が僕のパートナーのコンディションに対してどのような処方を（処置の仕方）するかです。 彼と一緒に先生の所へ行くことによって何らかの手助けが出来るのではないかと感じました。もしも僕ら２人で多様なわからない事（未知の事）について担当医 に聞けるのであれば、どのように対処をしていけば良いか？何か良い方法が見つかるのではないかと思いま した。
また、HIVについての最新の研究や治療についての情報を得ることも重要なことでした。その他、薬以外になにか良いものがないかと探したりもしました。そ れはビタミン剤 やハーブ系のものなどです。僕にとって沢山の情報を見つけることが僕と彼を助けて いる事を感じています。これは将来になんらかの事が起こりうる時にも役に立つと思 います。ですので、より良い情報を持つことで僕自身に対しても病気に対しての恐れ とパートナーをサポートする事が出来ると感じています。
